Boys & Girls Clubs of Dumplin Valley offers tested, proven and nationally recognized programs in five Core Program Areas that closely align with the developmental needs of all young people:
• Character and Leadership Development
• Education and Career Development
• Health and Life Skills
• The Arts
• Sports, Fitness and Recreation
We also undertake specialized initiatives that cut across more than one program area and/or address the unique needs of special populations.
BGC programs are designed to encourage Club members to realize a wide variety of positive outcomes - a strategy for developing the “whole child.” In recent years, the Boys & Girls Club Movement has focused additional efforts on helping children and teens achieve in our three priority outcome areas of Academic Success, Good Character and Citizenship, and Healthy Lifestyles.
Together, BGCA and Boys & Girls Clubs of Dumplin Valley follow the Formula for Impact – our roadmap for ensuring that young people have a positive, impactful Club Experience and, ultimately, achieve the important outcomes that lead them to Great Futures!
Boys & Girls Clubs of Dumplin Valley is committed to providing our members with resources that inspire creativity and develop 21st century skills through high-quality arts programming in fine arts, digital arts, performing arts and applied arts.
Triple Play, BGCA’s comprehensive health and wellness initiative, strives to improve the overall health of members, ages 6-18, by increasing their daily physical activity, teaching them good nutrition and helping them develop healthy relationships.
Boys & Girls Clubs of Dumplin Valley is committed to closing the opportunity gap in science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) with innovative and creative programs, activity ideas and resources for Clubs and the youth they serve.
To help young people develop academic, behavioral and social skills through homework completion, high-yield learning activities and tutoring. Homework completion is a critical component of young people’s academic success.
Keystoning is the Boys & Girls Club Movement’s most dynamic teen program. It affords teens an opportunity to gain valuable leadership and service experience. They conduct activities in three areas: academic success, career exploration and community service.
Torch Clubs are chartered small-group leadership and service clubs for boys and girls ages 10-13. A Torch Club is a powerful vehicle through which Club staff can help meet the special character development needs of younger adolescents at a critical stage in their development.
The SMART (Skills Mastery and Resistance Training) Moves program is a nationally acclaimed prevention program program incorporates the latest information and approaches that BGCA has learned about effective prevention. Participants will be exposed to various activities designed to hone their decision-making and critical-thinking skills, as well as learn how to avoid and/or resist alcohol, tobacco, other drugs and premature sexual activity.
SMART Girls is a small-group health, fitness, prevention/education and self-esteem enhancement program designed to meet the developmental needs of girls in three age groups. Through dynamic sessions, highly participatory activities, field trips and mentoring opportunities with adult women, Club girls explore their own and societal attitudes and values as they build skills for eating right, staying physically fit, getting good health care and developing positive relationships with peers and adults.
Passport to Manhood promotes and teaches responsibility in Club boys ages 8-17. Passport to Manhood consists of 14 sessions, each of which concentrates on a specific aspect of manhood through highly interactive activities. Each Club participant receives his own “passport” to underscore the notion that he is on a personal journey of maturation and growth. Passport to Manhood represents a targeted effort to engage young men in discussions activities that reinforce positive behavior. Passport to Manhood is an excellent complement to SMART Girls.
